About Her

I am a glass artist trained in Crafts and Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I began working with hot glass, flameworking, and kiln casting. After graduating in 2014, I continued to build my practice through studio work and teaching across Virginia and North Carolina. A scholarship to Penland School of Craft in 2018 ultimately drew me to Western North Carolina, a region with deep glass roots and a landscape that continues to shape my work. I worked locally for Lexington Glassworks, Small Batch Glass, Nice Time, and teach at the North Carolina Glass Center in addition to the Jackson County Green Energy Park. In 2021, I founded Her Glassworks, producing both functional and sculptural glass for gallery exhibition and sale.

My current body of work centers on vessels that merge flameworked imagery with blown forms. Over the past five years, I have refined a technique that brings soft glass imagery—created on a torch—into the hot shop, allowing the two processes to coexist within a single piece. This approach is unpredictable, but it is the balance of control and chance that excites me. Each vessel reflects an ongoing dialogue between process, material, and intuition.

Nature is both my subject and my point of grounding. The flameworked imagery often depicts ferns and plant forms inspired by quiet moments outdoors, especially hikes with my dog, Fern. These images represent simple joys—light filtering through leaves, the rhythm of walking, and the calm found in observation. Set against a white blown backdrop, the botanical forms interact with light and space, inviting viewers to slow down and engage with subtle details.
